Before I begin I would like to thank my beautiful daughter Amy for the great messages today, Father's day card and wonderful iPod which I was given early and have played every day of the ride. Thanks Amy😀
I set off today from Preston with good weather along a lovely well maintained canal path. All was well and I was merely cycling along for ages listening to Comfortably Numb when I happened to glance down at the sat nav to see I was well off course. Had to turn around and go back a couple of miles. What made it worse is I couldn't blame anyone but myself but saying that by the time I got back on route Pink Floyd were definitely the bad guys!
I refuelled a few miles further on at a bikers roadside cafe and
had a good crack with everyone. Sausage sarnie and cup of tea.. Champion
Pressed on into Lancaster to see a sign outside the local that gave me a laugh, had to go back and take a picture.
I also travelled over the local viaduct which was great fun then onto Kendal where I met a couple of local cyclists who escorted me through the busy town and onto the A6. The next 10 miles were all up a hill called Shap Fell. It is long and steep but the good thing is when I was on the top the last 10 miles of the day were all down hill and my legs thanked me for it.
The best bit of the day was meeting up again with my best friend Scotty from Newcastle. We had a pint and a great laugh catching up. Trying to talk him into another crazy adventure with me next year so we'll see. Thanks Scotty for driving over from Newcastle to meet up then off back again ready for work in the morning it gave me a great boost.
It's been a really good day today. 82 miles done and Shap Fell behind me. Scottish Border tomorrow.
Your in Scotland now, lets hope it's sunshine all the way ☀️☀️
